We are measuring anxiety using the Modified Yale Perioperative Anxiety Scale (MYPAS). The MYPAS is a behavioral/observational measure. Pediatric patients will be rated (by raters who are blind to the research hypotheses) based on five criteria, in the last five minutes of their pre-induction wait. Each patient will get a score from 23 (not apparently anxious) to 100 (extremely anxious). | |||

And, of course, we will keep track of which patients are in the intervention group and which patients are in the control group so that we can determine if there is a difference. | ![]() |
